Hermanos Viña Sastre

In the heart of Ribera del Duero is the town of La Horra, home of Viña Sastre. This family-owned winery was founded by current owner/winemaker Jesus Sastre and his late brother Pedro.

Jesus is very hands-on at the winery; by overseeing every step of the process from vine to bottle he ensures that the wine lives up to his exacting standards.

He uses bio-dynamic and organic practices in the vineyards to ensure healthy fruit and he’s always looking toward new technologies and methods to enhance the wine-making process.

He has always respected the site and history of the vineyards his family has farmed. He is continually reading about new viticultural techniques at the same time recovering old traditional farming methods of the past. All the wines are made in the most natural manner. Fermentation occurs through the use of indigenous yeast. The wines are cold stabilized naturally by moving the wine from the barrel room to separate tanks in a part of the winery whose temperature is naturally regulated by the outdoor temperatures. This is all a part of the vision that Jesus and Pedro shared for making wine in the most natural way possible.
